Triad Business Journal 2025 C-Suite Awards: Kevin Bennett of Biscuitville Fresh Southern
KEVIN BENNETT
Chief Financial Officer, Biscuitville Fresh Southern
City: Greensboro
Why selected: In the eight-plus years since Bennett has been a part of the Biscuitville executive team, the company has seen annual sales grow nearly 250%. More than half of the company’s 85 restaurants are new or have been remodeled in the past seven years. In the last two years alone, Biscuitville has grown new units at a 10% rate as it expands into new markets. To support that growth, Bennett led overhauling of the incentive package to attract and retain restaurant managers and assistant managers. The updates expanded participation in the profit-sharing plan and helped managers and assistant managers sharpen their focus on profitability at the restaurant unit level.
If you could have an alternate title, what would it be? Chief Travel Officer (because I like to travel)
How long have you worked at your company? 8+ years
Where were you born? Cheshire, Connecticut
What was your first job as a youth? Golf caddy
What is the biggest challenge you face? Navigating growth during economic uncertainty. In the restaurant industry, rising costs, shifting consumer behavior and labor pressures all collide. The challenge is scaling thoughtfully while staying agile and resilient.
What’s your best advice for others stepping into C-Suite roles? Never stop learning. Keep improving, listen deeply and lead with authenticity. The best results come when you stay true to who you are.
What’s worked for you in attracting and retaining talent? We give people room to learn, take risks and grow. Mistakes are part of that process. When people know they’re supported and part of something purposeful, they tend to stay and thrive.
How do you measure success? It’s a blend. Hitting financial targets matters, no question, but how we get there is just as important. Are we building trust? Creating long-term value? Setting up the next generation to succeed? That’s success to me.
Share one thing about yourself that would surprise people. I’ve had two hole-in-ones and I’ve run one marathon. I think I have better odds to get another hole in one than I do to run another marathon.
What are your hobbies? I love traveling and finding great vacation spots with my family, staying active in my kids’ sports and activities, running and getting out on the golf course when I can.
